
Michael Lynn Eddy, 18, of Garland was killed Sunday in a motorcycle accident at the start of a cross-country motocross race 15 miles west of Jericho, Utah. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Garland LDS tabernacle. Burial was in the Willard cemetery. Juab County Sheriff's deputies said the cyclist fell from his motorcycle and was run over by another contestant in the annual Cherry Creek Hare and Hound race. The mishap occurred about one-half mile from the start of the 150-mile race around noon. Eddy, who suffered a broken neck and a crushed chest, was taken to the Payson hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead on arrival. He was born Jan. 15, 1954, at Reno, Nev., a son of Douglas and Audrie Graser Eddy. He moved with his family to Garland in 1963 where he has resided since. He was a member of the Key Club at Bear River high school. The family will receive his graduation certificate from Bear River high school tonight. He was a member of the FFA and was a recipient of a top FFA scholar awared in 1971. He is a member of the LDS Church. He was a priest in the Garland First Ward and received his Duty to God award in 1970. He last week received his four year seminary diploma. He had served in the past as secretary to the teachers' quorum. He was employed at Phil and Lowell's Conoco Service Station in Tremonton. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Audrie Eddy Abel of Garland; his step-father, Ernest G. Abel of Garland; and two sisters, Miss Julie Eddy, Garland; Mrs. Jack (Joann) Senninger of Layton; two step-brothers, Laurence Abel, US Army, Ft. Bragg, N.C.; Edward Abel, Roy, Utah; two step-sisters, Miss Hayma Abel, Clearfield; Mrs. Verl (Sandra) Nelson, Riverdale, Utah; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T.L. Graser, Willard.
