DeAnn Thompson McMahan, age 50, of Woodbridge, died Saturday, June 25, 2005, following a courageous battle with liver disease. DeAnn was born September 9, 1954 in Tremonton Utah, the 4th child of Edward Grant Thompson and Elaine Stenquist Thompson.

After graduating from Bear River High School in 1972, DeAnn completed her bachelor's degree in Forestry at Utah State University. She married John David McMahan. USCG Ret. on October 11, 1980 in Jackson, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemenized in the Oakland LDS Temple.

DeAnn was a devoted wife, and mother, who was known by all for her positive and cheerful outlook on life. DeAnn was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) and held numerous church positions and served with honor. DeAnn volunteered to play the piano at McAuliffe Elementary and Saunders Middle Schools and did so for many years. She was a member of the Mormon Choir of Washington and enjoyed singing for others.

Her beautiful smile greeted all she met and continued to warm loved ones even as her illness progressed. In addition to being always optimistic, DeAnn was blessed to know the value of hard work and thanksgiving. Through her example DeAnn leaves a divine legacy.

DeAnn was preceded in death by her mother and father. She will be greatly missed by her husband John and sons, Evan and Eric whom she loved dearly; and by her caring brothers and sisters Kae, Paul, Glen, Janeen, and Dale and all of her cherished friends.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2005, with a viewing beginning at 10 a.m. and a special musical service at 11:30 a.m. in the LDS Chapel located at 5750 Websters Way, Manassas, VA 20112. Interment will be held at a future date at Arlington National Cemetery.
